"content": "Mike:\n\nThank you for your email.\n\nQuite pleased you joined the satellite group; lots of fun.\n\nThere are several satellite operators like myself who are using both HRD\nfor the satellite tracking, next pases, etc. (HRD has very nice graphics)\nand SatPC 32 as the engine to run the doppler control on the radio\n(especially the IC-9700) via CAT control along with the rotor control via\nUSB.\n\nRecommend acquiring SatPC32 and perform a side by side software comparison\non a WIN10 PC. SatPC32 does have a learning curve, but at the end of the\nday it works quite well for doppler control on FM, and linear birds along\nwith the rotor control (flip mode, 720 degree mode, models and controllers,\netc.). Erich is very responsive and supportive of the software.\n\nMy experience with HRD and issues with the program relate to the doppler\nand rotor control.\n\n - HRD doppler control:\n - FM - Passable. Radio performing most of the dopper control.\n - Linear - Manual Control via the radio VFO is sluggish and\n eventually will lock up.\n - Difficult to \"find yourself\" and execute minor uplink\n adjustments to stay on frequency.\n - HRD Rotor control - Passable - But is sluggish and rotor gauges\n have a significant lag.\n\nMy station is an IC-9700, M2 LEO arrays, Green Heron Controller with a\nYaesu G5500 (also have a 12PRSAT from Portable Rotators for rover/Field Day\nwork).\n\nIf I can be of any assistance, please let me know as I would be happy to\nparticipate in your endeavors.\nHowever, I am not a SW programmer.\n\n73,\nDoug\nWA6RLR\[email protected]\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Mon, Nov 1, 2021 at 7:39 AM Dr. Michael Carper, WA9PIE via AMSAT-BB <\[email protected]> wrote:\n\n> Right!
