"content": " Hi Andrew & Amsat's\n\n about a year ago, I had the same question with you.\n\nI had aluminium-wire 8mm and I was looking to form it as a loop for VHF.\n\nAfter several experiments, I found the best method.\n\nFirstly, I use 2 \"special tools\"!\n\na) a \"hot-air gun\" 2 KW , very powerful tool. (I bought it from a big \nGeneral store for ...7 Euros!)\nb) barbecue gloves (these with high enough isolation from high \ntemperatures)\n\nNow, by using a metallic barrel as tube (forma) with the appropriated \ndiameter for my loop,\nI screw on it the beginning of wire.\n\n Then I Fire-up the \"Hot-air gun\" and I try to make hotter the wire, \nslowly and carefully close\nto the screw. When the aluminium is hot-enough is much easier to bend it \naround of barrel, by handling\nthat with barbecue's glovers. Slowly & carefully, from the beginning to the \n1/4, then to 1/2,\nthen to 3/4 till to the end of loop, you can form it easily, always by \nusing the hot-air gun.\n\n You need enough time in order to make the loop, but I made 3 perfect loops\n(like commercials !) by following this method.\n\nGood luck\n\n73, Mak SV1BSX\n\n\n\n----- Original Message ----- \nFrom: \"Andrew Rich\" <[email protected]>\nTo: \"Amsat-Bb@Amsat.
