"content": "The 910H is a good rig...the best satellite choice...but it has its \ndrawbacks.\nMy biggest complaint, after nearly 10 years of operation, the lack of \nmetering...there is no audio monitor, and nothing more than an led to \npeak to measure modulation on ssb.\nIn weak signal and satellite operation its outstanding. I had a ball \non ao-40 and was very pleased with the rig.\nBut it shares another ICOM peculiarity, if you have set things up for \nssb, with compression and proper mic levels, switching to FM does not \nbypass compression...this is also an issue with the 706 and as far as \nI know 7000.\nThey are also notorious for less than specified RF output...I have \nseveral friends who've noted the same issue, and have actually \nreturned the radio to ICOM for inspection without satisfaction.\nbottom line - its the best choice available, but it sure could use \nsome updating...like going digital as ICOM did with the 7000 upgrade \nover the analog 706 series.\n73, Warren W1GUD\nOn Apr 12, 2007, at 6:48 AM, John Price wrote:\n\n> Don't know much about this radio but sure had a terrible experience\n> with Icom and the IC-3230A I bought some years ago.
