It's working great in iTunes here.\n\nFor those unfamiliar with how to add a non ITMS (iTunes Music Store) \npodcast to your iTunes software (on either Windows or Mac, should be \nthe same...) ...\n\nGo to the top of the screen to the menu.\nClick on Advanced.\nClick on \"Subscribe to Podcast\" in the menu.\nYou'll get a box that says \"URL:\"\nCut and paste Bruce's URL above -- http://www.amsatnet.com/podcast.xml \n-- into the box.\nClick OK.\n\nYou're done. You should now see the podcast in your list of \nsubscribed Podcasts in your Library on the left side of the screen. \nDepending on your settings (see below) you'll either get automatic \nupdates of the Houston AMSAT Net every time Bruce releases one to the \nserver, or you'll have to go to the podcast in your library and click \non the Update button.\n\nNow some thoughts on settings -- these apply to any \"podcatcher\" type \nsoftware, of which iTunes is just one of many -- but this set of \ninstructions and comments below is focused on iTunes, since a lot of \npeople have it and may have never used it for podcasts before...\n\nIf you normally go a long period of time without LISTENING to any of \nthe downloaded files, iTunes tries to help the podcasters out with \nbandwidth by NOT downloading or checking the XML file... you can right- \nclick on the title of the podcast and clicking \"Update Podcast\" if you \never get that far behind.\n\nYou can also be \"nice\" to Bruce's server by going into your \nPreferences for iTunes (iTunes Menu, Preferences) click on Podcasts... \nthen:\n\nCheck for New Episodes: [Set to as low as you can for your podcasts \nyou listen to -- if they publish weekly, once a week. If you track \nsome that update Daily, Daily. Avoid \"every hour\" if possible.]\n\nWhen new episodes are available: [Choices are Download All, Download \nthe Most Recent One, Do nothing -- choose as appropriate, keeping in \nmind that if you're not going to listen to EVERY one, and/or you have \nno other podcasts... manual downloads are \"nicer\" to the server \nbandwidth.]\n\nThe last one is a setting for how long you want to keep your downloads \nand you can decide on that... it doesn't really affect the server.\n\nJust a little \"iTunes settings\" intro for anyone trying it out for the \nfirst time -- so you know where to find all those nice settings.\n\nSitting here listening to #735 on the laptop! Cool stuff. Of course, \n#734 and #735 will also download (if I don't delete them after \nlistening to them) into my iPod whenever I get around to \"syncing\" it \nwith the laptop next. Yay! Something else interesting to listen to \non the long commute! (Sorry ClearChannel, you can keep your boring \ntalk show hosts... I'll be listening to the Houston AMSAT Net!)\n\n:-)\n\n73,\n--\nNate Duehr, WY0X\[email protected]\n\n\n\n",
