    "content": "I've used the IC-R30 for the Rx side of SATs for years.   It is a good\nreceive only radio.  The built in recorder is a great feature.  As you\npoint out, it's not the most sensitive receiver ever made but it is fully\nadequate for both FM and Linear/ssb/cw operation.  My only issue with it is\nthe audio Amp gain. When picking up weak signals on SSB the audio level can\nbe too low for my deaf ears, but if you have good hearing that won't be a\nproblem.  Another thing to note is that it is an analog radio, no digital\nmodes or APRS. I use it primarily with a Arrow yagi. So there are\ndefinitely a lot of better radios out there but the IC-R30 put me on the\nsats in the first place and I never stopped using it.
