There is an interesting\nchart on page 10 \"Figure 5. Power System Output.\"\n\nMy analysis, as shown in Figure 5, indicates that\nat certain \"bad\" sun angles, the solar panels\nmay not provide enough power to run the satellite\neven in full sun.\n\nThe power from the panels can actually drop to as low\nas 2.5 watts at really bad angles but the satellite needs\naround 8 watts average to run in high power mode. This means\nthat the satellite would have to draw current from the battery\nto run in high power mode even though it is in the sun.\n\nThis discharge would reduce the life of the battery so to minimize\nthe damage and prolong the life of the satellite, it will switch\nitself to low power mode under these conditions.\n\nI don't know for sure if this is what is happening but this\ncondition is within the predicted nominal operation of the\nsatellite.\n\n73,\nTony AA2TX\n---\nOn 8/11/2011 2:48 AM, Colin Hurst wrote:\n> ARISSat was in low power mode during the pass commencing at 0628UTC in full\n> sunlight.\n>\n>\n>\n> 73\n>\n> Colin VK5HI\n>\n>\n>\n> _______________________________________________\n> Sent via [email protected].
