Many of us have been using a PDF file written by\nJohn Barber N5JB to get our satellite QSOs into Logbook of the\nWorld. It has been available from the ARRL web site for a long time:\n\nhttp://www.arrl.org/files/file/LoTW%20Instructions/N5JB.pdf\n\nIn this PDF, only 7 fields are listed as mandatory to make a valid\nsatellite QSO record in LOTW:\n\nCALL\nQSO_DATE\nTIME_ON\nBAND\nMODE\nPROP_MODE\nSAT_NAME\n\nThe SAT_NAME field must be one of the satellites named on the\nLOTW FAQ page:\n\nhttps://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-help/frequently-asked-questions/#sats\n\n(By the way, who at ARRL should we ask to get Mir listed as a\nvalid satellite? I've been e-mailing and filing help desk tickets,\nbut nothing has ever been done with my requests)\n\nOptional fields that satellite QSOs could use include:\n\nFREQ\nBAND_RX\nFREQ_RX\n\nWhen I started to upload my satellite QSOs in 2011, I only used the\n7 mandatory fields for my QSOs. I have since added the other 3 fields\non QSOs I've uploaded for the past 4+ years, to have a more\ncomplete record in LOTW that I can log into and view anytime I want\nto consult my log (and have Internet access).\n\nThanks, and 73!\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK\n\n\nOn Tue, May 12, 2015 at 2:38 AM, Sean K. via AMSAT-BB\n<[email protected]> wrote:\n> Hi Mark-\n> For satellite QSOs, you need to enter BOTH xmit and receive bands, since\nthey are different.\n> From the presentation:\n> \"Logging QSOs made through the Amateur satellites is not much different\nthan logging any other QSO on the air.\n> The standard QSO information - callsign, date, time, band and mode are\nlogged.\n> But to receive proper credit for a satellite QSO, the log entry must also\ninclude the receive band, propagation mode (\"satellite\"), and the satellite\nname.\"\n> \n> Sean Kutzko\n> Amateur Radio KX9X\n> From: Mark Johns <[email protected]>\n> To: \"[email protected]\" <[email protected]>; \"[email protected]\"\n<[email protected]>\n> Sent: Monday, May 11, 2015 8:41 PM\n> Subject: RE: [amsat-bb] LOTW For Satellite Operators Tutorial\n> \n> \n> | The PowerPoint on LoTW advises logging and uploading the receive\n(downlink) band.
