    "content": "\nCongratulations are in order for G8ATE's (Rob) thoughtful origination \nof GB ZERO OSCAR ONE (GB0O1).\n\nMarty Davidoff's THE SATELLITE EXPERIMENTERS MANUAL preserved it for \nposterity....And I would like to see Rob's\nefforts celebrating it repeated annually by ALL AMSATS worldwide.\n\nI quote from Marty's first edition:\n\n\"And so, on December 12,1961, at 2042 GMT, Discover XXXVI was \nlaunched into orbit, carrying into separate orbit OSCAR 1 guided in \nits flight into history by the thoughts and prayers of thousands of \nradio amateurs who stand on the threshold of tomorrow.\"\n\nIt sent a simple \"hi hi\", and the speed of transmission gave an \nindication of its temperature.\n\nCERTAINLY AN EVENT WORTH CELEBRATING ANNUALY...\n\nDuring the five day event I was fortunate to make contacts (ssb, FM \nand cw) on AO7, VO52, VO50 and AO51, and mentioned the GB0O1 callsign \non them all, my only option in San Diego, limited by LEO's.\nA digital carry over did not seem to constitute a CONTACT;\nmy old fingers make it difficult for me to \"talk\" with them!\n\nTnx agn to Rob, to the other GB'ers who assisted, and to my respondents...\n\n  A high spot in my 71 year interest in ham radio.
