Keep the rigs separated and you might get away with it.\n\nI don't have automatic doppler correction on my 13cm receive side right now. The receiver is an ICOM IC-R7000, which does have computer control, but my software doesn't know how to talk to it. (My fault - I wrote it!) So I get by with computers running the rotors and the uplink, and I do the downlink by hand. It gets pretty hairy at times (around TCA), but especially on FM I can manage. So, if you can't coax SatPC to run both rigs, all is not lost.\n\nGood luck!\n\nGreg KO6TH\n\n\nFrom: [email protected]\nTo: [email protected]; [email protected]\nSubject: Re: [amsat-bb] AO-51 V/S mode\nDate: Sat, 8 Aug 2009 15:34:09 -0400\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHi Greg,\n \nGuess I'll feed the downconverter into my FT-817ND and see \nif I can get things going that way with SATPC controlling doppler on both \nrigs..\n \nMany thanks!\n \nAl W8KHP\n\n ----- Original Message ----- \n From: \n Greg \n D. \n To: [email protected] ; [email protected] \n Sent: Saturday, August 08, 2009 2:09 \n PM\n Subject: RE: [amsat-bb] AO-51 V/S \n mode\n \nHi Allen,\n\nIf you have both Rx and Tx on the same band, \n then both directions will be using the same RF connector on the rig. I \n suppose if you are REALLY careful you can put an antenna switch between them, \n but you need to make really sure you don't transmit into the back of your \n downconverter. And since you won't be able to hear yourself, this \n arrangement is probably only going to work in FM mode.\n\nI've done VS \n with my FT-736R, but my 13cm receive is through a separate rig (an all-mode \n scanner). I also modified my downconverter for a 300mhz IF so that I \n wouldn't have any interference regardless of the uplink (2m/70cm). The \n 736 was only used for the uplink.\n\nGood luck,\n\nGreg \n KO6TH\n\n\n> From: [email protected]\n> To: \n [email protected]\n> Date: Sat, 8 Aug 2009 13:48:24 -0400\n> \n Subject: [amsat-bb] AO-51 V/S mode\n> \n> I would like to try this \n mode using a K5GNA downconverter. The problem is I am using an FT-736R and \n apparently you can not have Xmit and Rcv on same band in satellite mode. I am \n using SATPC-32 for doppler control. The downconverter uses a 2m IF. Anyone \n else with an FT-736R have this worked out?\n> \n> Many \n thanks!!\n> \n> 73,\n> Al W8KHP\n> \n _______________________________________________\n> Sent via \n [email protected].
