In the case of 1200 baud packet, you are sending two different\naudio tones to represent a 1 and a 0. For the higher speed packet modes,\nyou are not sending audio tones out the the radio, but shifting the\nfrequency to specific values to represent a 1 and a 0. To do this with a\nsoundcard interface, you must bypass all the audio shaping characteristics\nof the 'microphone' input and have direct access to the modulator with nice\nflat response nearly all the way down to DC.\n\nIf you have audio transformers in the line, or are feeding it into a radio\nport that shapes the audio, it will not work very well. The Signalink\nindicates it has 600 ohm outputs which might suggest audio transformers in\nit, and the ACC2 port in the TS-2000 manual indicates it only provides a\nmicrophone input. This is probably distorting the transmit.\n\nThe same applies on the receive that you need clean raw 'discrimnator'\naudio that doesn't have any filtering or shaping of the audio that makes it\nsound pleasing.\n\nI'm not sure the TS-2000 supplies that either looking at the manual.\n\nI do see that even the non X versions of the TS-2000 may have an internal\n9600 baud TNC which is accessible on the serial port on the back. That\ninternal TNC should be compatible with FS-3, so you may just need to change\nfrom the soundmodem to the internal TNC to get success. If that is not an\noption, it may require modification of the radio to tap into the points\ndiscussed above.\n\nHopefully this points you in a good direction.\n\nRyan, NF0T\n\n\n\nOn Thu, Mar 25, 2021 at 9:08 PM D.
