"content": "John,\n>From the information of the time I researched it soon after AO-51 was\nlaunched, I recall it was linear but polarity was pointing angle dependent.\nI used a patch LH rotation feed on a 20\" MDS dish with great results using a\nKG5NA down converter. Being circular there was one less variable to contend\nwith during the short duration passes of AO-51. The gain of the dish with\nthe low noise figure of the down converter more than made up for the 3 dB\nloss from linear to circular. \n\nArt,\n KC6UQH\n\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of jmfranke\nSent: Tuesday, December 21, 2010 11:57 AM\nTo: [email protected]\nSubject: [amsat-bb] AO-51 S-Band antenna polarization\n\nDoes anyone know the polarization of the 2.4 GHz transmissions from AO-51. \nAre they circular? If so which polarity, RHCP or LHCP? Are they linear? \nIf so is there a preferred receiving polarization? I have examined the \nAMSAT web site and many references on the Internet, but cannot seem to find \nthe answer.\n\nThanks,\n\nJohn WA4WDL AMSAT member 10211 \n\n\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
