"content": "pool.ntp.org (no WWW) has been working fine for me for quite some time.\n\nwww.pool.ntp.org is the webpage.\n\nThe 0.server, 1.server, 2.server, etc are a rotating list of servers that\nare changed hourly, not round robin DNS. When you add several of these to\nyour ntp.conf file or favorite time sync program, you create a load balance\nof sorts both locally and externally, between your client rotating the\nservers, and the scripted rotation of the servers on their end. This is not\nthe best way to randomize and minimize your use of the system as a whole.\n\nFor a true round robin DNS, you can use north-america.pool.ntp.org, or even\nus.pool.ntp.org (US), ca.pool.ntp.org (CA), or mx.pool.ntp.org (Mexico).\nThese can be placed right into the time sync applet in Windows and you're\nset. This is also more in the spirit of how the system works, and keeps\nunruly client programs from abusing one server too often.\n\nFor a generic international recommendation, pool.ntp.org is fine, and you'll\nnever miss the few milliseconds of latency that come from not always using\nthe absolute closest server.\n\ndm \n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On\nBehalf Of Keith E. That site has a link \"How do I use pool.ntp.org\" which gives details\non how to set up Window, specifically using the command:\n\nnet time /setsntp:\"0.pool.ntp.org 1.pool.ntp.org 2.pool.ntp.org\"\n\nor in North America, more appropriate would be:\n\n\nnet time /setsntp:\"0.north-america.pool.ntp.org\n1.north-america.pool.ntp.org 2.north-america.pool.ntp.org\"\n\n73, Keith \n\n_______________________________________________\nSent via [email protected].
