    "content": "I just arrived in Europe with a G5500 and was successfully able to convert the controller to 220v simply by moving the wire connected to pin 2 on the KT-30 transformer to pin 3.  That's all it takes.  If EA4CYG's wire is on pin 3, I would guess that someone has already converted it to 220v operation (perhaps without changing the plug to a European connector?).\n\nTo be sure that you connect to the correct pin, measure the resistance with an ohm meter between pins 0 and 2 and then 0 and 3.  The resistance between 0 and 3 should be significantly more (almost double) the resistance between 0 and 2.\n\n73, Bill NZ5N/OM3BD\n\nPS - I am now QRV from OM land on HF but not yet on the sats, due to some antenna problems.\n\n--- On Wed, 6/1/11, Bill Dzurilla <[email protected]> wrote:\n\n> From: Bill Dzurilla <[email protected]>\n> Subject: RE: [amsat-bb] Re: G5500 change voltage supply\n> To: [email protected], \"Dee\" <[email protected]>\n> Cc: [email protected]\n> Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2011, 1:43 PM\n> The pdf say \"G5500\" in handwriting\n> and I know a guy who says he did this mod on a G5500. \n> But obviously the KT-30 must be a different transformer.\n> \n> 73, Bill \n> \n> --- On Wed, 6/1/11, Dee <[email protected]>\n> wrote:\n> \n> > From: Dee <[email protected]>\n> > Subject: RE: [amsat-bb] Re: G5500 change voltage\n> supply\n> > To: \"'Bill Dzurilla'\" <[email protected]>,\n> [email protected]\n> > Cc: [email protected]\n> > Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2011, 1:24 PM\n> > Look closer--Wrong rotor and I\n> > imagine you jump the other connections\n> > together to have the voltage correct.\n> > Again, Check the G5500 manual.\n> > Dee \n> > \n> > -----Original Message-----\n> > From: [email protected]\n> > [mailto:[email protected]]\n> > On\n> > Behalf Of Bill Dzurilla\n> > Sent: Wednesday, June 01, 2011 12:53 PM\n> > To: [email protected]\n> > Cc: [email protected]\n> > Subject: [amsat-bb] Re: G5500 change voltage supply\n> > \n> > Here is the mod to change Yaesu rotors to 220v:\n> > http://www.hamcity.com/store/pc/catalog/pdf/220vconversion.pdf\n> > \n> > But perhaps yours has a different transformer if it\n> uses\n> > pin 3 for 117v.  In\n> > the mod, pins 0 and 3 are for 220v.\n> > \n> > 73, Bill NZ5N\n> > \n> > > Subject: [amsat-bb] G5500 change voltage supply\n> > > \n> > > I have purchased a G5500.  The control box have\n> a\n> > 117Vac label  in the \n> > > real panel.  I opened it and a wire is\n> connected\n> > through the fuse to \n> > > the terminal number 3 of the KT-30 transformer\n> and the\n> > other wire \n> > > through the main switch to the terminal number 1\n> of\n> > the KT-30 \n> > > transformer.\n> > > \n> > > I am wondering how I should connect it to work\n> with\n> > 220Vac in Europe.\n> > > \n> > > Thanks in advance.
