I read Patrick's post about it and I don't remember any Kenwood \nrep at Dayton say it would do full duplex. I think Kenwood really missed the \nboat on this one.\n\n73 Jeff kb2m\n\n-----Original Message----- \nFrom: Patrick STODDARD (WD9EWK/VA7EWK)\nSent: Sunday, December 04, 2016 12:19 PM\nTo: Phillip Lontz ; [email protected]\nSubject: Re: [amsat-bb] RTSystems has Software for Kenwood TH-D74a\n\nPhillip,\n\nAs Dave KB1PVH said, the answer is \"no\". The TH-D74 is not capable\nof cross-band full-duplex operation for working FM satellites,\nunlike the older TH-D72 which can do that. When you transmit from\none VFO or \"band\" on the TH-D74, the other VFO/\"band\" is muted.\n\nI have written a bit about how I have used my TH-D74A on satellites,\nand not just trying to use it with FM satellites, on the QRZ.com\nsatellite forum at:\n\nhttps://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/kenwood-th\n-d74a-for-satellite-work.540096/\n\nI have used my TH-D74A on both SO-50 and AO-85 in FM, as the\ndownlink receiver when working SSB satellites like AO-73, FO-29,\nand XW-2F (transmit radio was a Yaesu FT-817ND), and working\nthe orbiting packet digipeaters on the ISS (previously on 145.825\nMHz, and now on 437.550 MHz) and NO-84 (when available).\n\nPlease e-mail me directly if I can be of further assistance with\nthe TH-D74A on satellites.\n\n73!\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK\n\n\n\nOn Sun, Dec 4, 2016 at 4:47 PM, Phillip Lontz <[email protected]> wrote:\n\n> Will that new KENWOOD do crossband full duplex like the TH D72????\n>\n> What me worry?\n>\n> > On Dec 3, 2016, at 11:35 PM, Clint Bradford <[email protected]>\n> wrote:\n> >\n> > RT Systems has a $25 software program for the new Kenwood TH-D74a.\n> >\n> > https://www.rtsystemsinc.com/TH-D74-programming-software-\n> and-USB-cable-s/2688.htm\n> >\n> > Uses a Standard USB-A to Micro-B cable or MicroSD card for programming -\n> so there is\n> > no need to purchase a cable from RTSystems for this HT!\n> >\n> > Clint Bradford, K6LCS\n> > Published article, AMSAT Symposium 2008\n> > _______________________________________________\n> > Sent via [email protected].
