"content": "I really do get bored reading about all these threats to Mode S from WiFi, \netc.\n\nNOT!\n\nThese are 100 mW devices...maximum! That means they have to be relatively\nclose to your QTH for you to hear them.\n\n1. Pick up your old laptop, or borrow one.\n2. Plug in a Linksys wireless PC card from Radio Shack.\n3. Download the free NetStumbler shareware.\n4. Find the source of the Wifi QRM.\n5. Knock on his door and ask him to change his AP to a channel 7 - 11 \n(outside the Ham Band)\n6. Reason: He's interfering with a licensed radio service (be nice!).\n7. Return to your radio room and operate Mode S until LOS.\n\nThis is child's play guys! These are consumer grade wireless devices, not \nsuper computers.\nFixing such local QRM issues is easier than solving the old fashioned TVI \nproblems.\n\nThe most troublesome devices I have found , even to WiFi, are 2.4 GHz \ncordless phones.\nIn that case the only solution I have found is to go next door and offer to \nbuy him a replacement\ncordless phone of any type he would like EXCEPT one on 2.4 GHz. That is a \ncheap\nsolution. They're usually not more than $79.95 while you probably have \nmultiple Ks of $\ninvested in your satellite ground station.\n\nFor a bunch of supposedly sophisticated wireless guys, you sure don't know \nbeans about\nconsumer grade wireless devices. That includes our wonderfully dedicated \nbut pessimistic AMSAT satellite engineers!\n\nNow get on with the work, and get those birds into orbit! (HI).\n\nVy 73,\nJohn Champa, K8OCL\nAMSAT Life Member 1069\n\n\n\n>From: Luc Leblanc VE2DWE <[email protected]>\n>To: [email protected]\n>Subject: [amsat-bb] Re: S band interference solution\n>Date: Wed, 04 Oct 2006 23:51:30 -0400\n>\n>On 4 Oct 2006 at 20:11, Tim Tapio wrote:\n>\n> > Lets see....intentionally jamming another radio service??
