"content": "Hola Pavel!\n\nThanks for your post. I did not mention any of the Chinese-made\nHTs like the Baofeng UV-5R earlier, since they are not capable of\nfull-duplex operation on SO-50. Unfortunately, not all UV-5Rs are\nthe same. I have used one of mine as the downlink receiver, when\nconnected through a diplexer to my Elk log periodic. I have\ntransmitted with another UV-5R, a Baofeng UV-82, and even a\nWouxun KG-UV8D.\n\nLast year, I did a demonstration on SO-50 using two Baofeng HTs\n(UV-82 for the uplink, UV-5R for the downlink) connected to a\ndiplexer and my Elk antenna. This worked OK, and I made the\nsatellite audio into a slideshow video I posted on YouTube:\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cLx9h-vNRA\n\nI have not tried any of my Baofeng or Wouxun HTs with an Arrow\nYagi, or a homebrew equivalent of that Yagi.\n\nI know a friend who has ordered the new AnyTone Termn-8R\n2m/70cm FM HT, which is being promoted as capable of full-\nduplex operation. It may be like the Wouxun KG-UV8D, which\nhas been promoted the same way, but cannot work full-duplex\nwith the weak SO-50 downlink. I hope to get a chance to try\nthat new AnyTone radio soon, to see if it does any better on\nSO-50 than the KG-UV8D.\n\nBuen fin de semana, y 73!\n\n\n\n\nPatrick WD9EWK/VA7EWK\nhttp://www.wd9ewk.net/\nTwitter: @WD9EWK\n\n\nOn Sun, Mar 22, 2015 at 3:50 AM, Pavel Milanes Costa <[email protected]> wrote:\n> I can give [bad] references on the Baofeng UV-5R HT...\n>\n> On receive with some as simple as a moxon on top of the HT the SO-50 is\n> clear and loud as long your hand can turn to match polarization.\n>\n> But, as soon you key the PTT on ANY rig on 2m near this tiny HT goes\n> overloaded, no matter if you use a diplexer or a LPF with at least 30dB att.\n> on 70cm...\n>\n> But, maybe on Fox sat series...\n>\n> I feel I need to make this clear... to others not to put his \"eggs on that\n> basket\"\n>\n> 73, CO7WT\n>\n",
