    "content": "Hi, Joe,\n\nBasically D-STAR (registered trademark) is designed to be used only in\nFM mode.  (Has VO-52 a FM transponder ?)\n\nCurrentry only the ICOM supplies D-STAR comtatipble TRX on to the\nmarket.\nHowever, it seems that even the ICOM does not have suitable TRX\nfor Sat communication on DV mode.\nFor example, look their new mobile TRX, IC-2820.\nThis radio is of course D-STAR compatible TRX.\nThis radio can handle both 144/430MHz in FM and full duplex operation\n may be available.\n( This radio may be able to use on the AO-51)\n\nBut, most important point is the radio has only One  DV mode\ncircuit and because of this reason, there is no possibility to enter duplex\noperation on DV mode.\nIn another word, on DV mode, only simplex operation is avilable.\n\nPlease note above is current situation in Japan and may differ on the\noversea market and of corse two years ahead or even one year ahead\nmay be in different situation.\n\nToyo    JA0CQP\n\n\n\n",
