There was an article in the AMSAT\nJournal back in the early 90's where G3IOR described his contact from the UK\ninto VK/ZL using RS-12. As others have mentioned in this thread, RS-12\nusing 15 and 10 meters for uplink and downlink, below the horizon contacts\nwere possible. I was able to work KH6 that way from New York.
