"content": "That was me VE3NPC. At 01:16 I completed a QSO with\nEd N8BBQ. He was the only readable signal other than\nmyself I could copy. There were several that were very week/\n>From this QSO and my previous experinece on 3 L(ssb)/S(fm)\npasses I have the following observations.\n1. With my approx 1500 watts ERP on L I can only get into\n AO-51 with a good signal when it is above about 30 degrees\n elevation wich corresponds to a range of about 1200 kilometers.\n2. The receiver seems to have a definite threshold below which\n the signal comming back wanders around.\n3. We have a problem on L band. On the L//S mode there was\n strong random impulse QRN which I concluded was local\n LAN. However the same strong impulse signals were on\n the U downlink. The L band ssb receiver is responding to\n some very strong impulse signals over Eastern NA. This QRN\n was not there for AO-40. This implies that the Eagle\n team should have some sort of Noise Blanker on board.\n\nClare VE3NPC\n\n----- Original Message ----- \nFrom: \"snyderb\" <[email protected]>\nTo: <[email protected]>\nSent: Friday, December 08, 2006 8:28 PM\nSubject: [amsat-bb] L/U Mode USB\n\n\n> BB\n>\n> This mode is a challange.
