"content": "I AM EXCITED about the new FUNcube Dongle Pro+ \nreceiver (part number FCD2-15). One is on its \nway right now to my home mailbox, directly from \nHoward G6LVB in London. Should arrive in two \ndays, perhaps sooner. \n\nThis is the SDR receiver that I hope to show \noff at our AMSAT-DC Workshop Spring 2013 coming \nyour way on Saturday, March 23. I expect to \nbe running it with either the SpectraVue or \nthe SDRsharp software. \n\nIf you would like to \"join me\" in checking it \nout and bringing yours with you too then keep \ntrack of the FUNcube Dongle Web site. Better \nyet, don't wait until orders are announced as \nbeing re-opened to the public on the main Web \npage. Go straight to: \n\nhttps://funcubedongle.3dcartstores.com/FUNcube-Dongle-Pro_p_8.html\n\nand click the button for \"Put me on the \nwaiting list\" intent to order. Just fill \nout your e-mail address. At the same time \nyou might want to create an \"account\" there \nwith your name and address to save time \nlater. \n\nThe total cost in today's exchange rate is \nunder $214 (US dollars) including shipping \nand handling. We do NOT have to pay the \nVAT (tax), and the ordering site knows that \nfrom your address. (I hope I don't need a \ndisclaimer to say that I am not benefiting \nfinancially from this \"sales\" pitch.) \n\nFYI, if you want to compare the new features \nof this receiver with the old then browse \nthese pages: \n\nNew Specs\nhttp://www.funcubedongle.com/?page_id=1201\n\nOld specs\nhttp://www.funcubedongle.com/?page_id=74\n\nI trust someone will bring one of the \"Cheap \nand Easy SDR\" receiver dongles that was \nrecently featured in QST Magazine (January \n2013, page 30, 6 pp), to show us as well. \n\nQST Digital Copy:\nhttp://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/arrl/qst_201301/index.php\n\nThe price range is claimed as being \"$20 and \nup\" depending on the features of the specific \ndongle you choose. A large part of the six \npages is dedicated to step-by-step tips to \nget the SDR# software up and running. This \nis good for everyone! The other major part \nof the article covers a construction project \nwhich is needed only if you want the \nexpanded frequency coverage of HF. Any \ntakers to dive into this for us?? \n\nWe'll talk later about antennas and tracking \nas desired. \n\nI am dying to hear about the antennas that \nfolks are using or planning to use, especially \nif anyone expects to experiment either on a \nband above 70cm in frequency or with small \ncircular polarization (CP) yagi types. \n\nCheers,\n\nPat\nN8PK\[email protected]\n\n\n\n\n\n",
