McHenry\" from Catonsville, Md. \n\nHERE IS THE LINK from my short presentation last \nnight at the GARC meeting. The balloon callsign is \nKB3VTP-11. Watch for N8PK-9 chasing it on APRS at \nhttp://aprs.fi/?call=n8pk*&mt=roadmap&z=11&timerange=259200&_s=ss_call\nalong with others on the chase and recovery team. \n\nYou may monitor the GARC repeater, WA3NAN/R on \n146.835 MHz FM, any time after 9:00 A.M. EDT to \ncompare notes! \n\n>From the launch site ten miles west of Hagerstown, \nMD, we hope to launch by ten, but it is Josh's and \nhis squadron's first high-altitude balloon, so who \nknows if we run into any delays. (But then again, \nthe payload is not very \"field repairable\" so it \neither works or it doesn't.) The filling operations \n-- the realtime \"On the Job Training\" -- will be the \ndriving factor in the actual release time, next to \nweather conditions at the launch site and down range. \n\nPosition packets will be received before launch by \nthe nearby N3KTX-4 node, thanks to Mike Garber. The \nlaunch coordination repeater will be 442.650+ on the \nsame hilltop as N3KTX-4. While in chase we may switch \nover to the K3PZN/R in Westminster on 145.410 MHz FM. \n\nFlight downlinks: 144.390 MHz FM and 433.920 MHz AM. \n\nIf you'd like to participate on a chase team then \ngive me a call ASAP. Otherwise, please enjoy watching \nthe events unfold from the comfort of your home. Use \nthe repeaters and Web links as your controls. \n\nHappy hunting! \n\nCheers,\n\nPat Kilroy\nN8PK\nHigh-Altitude Experiments Advisor\n\n\nJosh Neel's Balloon CHASE-1 Info Page\nhttp://www.ftmchenrycap.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=107&Itemid=1\n\nOther Good Links: \n\nWEATHER At Launch Site\nhttp://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=21722 or \nhttp://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Clear+Spring&state=MD&site=LWX&lat=39.6559&lon=-77.9311\n\nWINDS ALOFT (Jet Stream) major contributor to track\nhttp://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/US/2xpxJetStream.html\n\nVISIBILITY\nhttp://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/Northeast/2xpxVisibility.html\n\nMETAR (Key for launch GO or NO GO)\nhttp://www.wunderground.com/Aviation/index.html?query=KFDK#METAR\n\nWe will watch the METAR for Hagerstown (HGR), Frederick (FDK), \nWestminster (DMW) and Philadelphia (PHL).
