I would\nlike to remind AMSAT-NA and AMSAT-DC members I am still taking volunteers\nfor this event.\n\nPlease contact me directly for details, and any co-ordination for travel to\nNASM, or if you have any items to contribute for the day, I can arrange for\na pickup.\n\nSamudra Haque, N3RDX & S21X\nAlexandria, VA 22310\n(202) 812-3325\[email protected]\n\n---------- Forwarded message ----------\nFrom: Samudra Haque <[email protected]>\nDate: Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 3:55 PM\nSubject: AMSAT at the NASM (Hispanic Heritage Month) - October 16, 2010,\nFirst call for volunteers\nTo: Amsat-bb <[email protected]>\n\n\nHello AMSAT-NA and others,\n\n\nif you are interested in volunteering for AMSAT outreach activities, please\nconsider the following event that is being organized by the National Air and\nSpace Museum in Washington, DC. The last event at the NASM was Space Day,\nwhich included a live ARISS contact and AMSAT display stands with a variety\nof equipment and presentations.\n\n\nEvent: Hispanic Heritage Month Family day—Argentina in Air and Space\n\nLocation: National Air and Space Museum\n\nDate: Saturday, October 16, 2010\n\nTime: 10 AM – 3 PM\n\n\nI am volunteering to organize AMSAT's participation for the event. Please\ncontact me through e-mail if you are interested and able to participate in\nany form. I will need to know:\n\n\n* Can you volunteer any exhibition/display resources (pictures, posters,\netc.) ?\n\n* Can you volunteer your time on October 16, 2010 for any portion?\n\n* Can you provide any presentation materials relevant to Argentina in Air\nand Space?\n\n* Will you require transportation? etc. etc.\n\n\nAdditional info from NASM:\n\n\nNASM is looking for AMSAT members who would be interested in talking to the\nvisitors about satellites. Because the focus of the day is Argentina, we\nare particularly interested in people with expertise in Argentinean\nsatellites. Bonus points for members how can discuss Pehuensat-1 because\nPablo de Leon, who was the payload manager, will be a featured speaker at\nthe event.\n\n\nExpectations: AMSAT members would set-up tables with equipment, posters, and\nother items of interest to visitors. These tables would be staffed\nthroughout the day by AMSAT members. You are welcome to volunteer for a\ncouple of hours or the whole day. Free parking will be provided all, and\nlunch will be provided for people who volunteer the whole day.\n\n\nThis event will celebrate both the centennial and bicentennial of\nArgentina. For the centennial celebration we will focus on Jorge Newberry\nand lighter than air.\n\n\n\nFor the bicentennial (which is this year) the focus will be on Argentina’s\naccomplishments in space. The linchpin of this portion of the program will\nbe Pablo de Leon. He has been involved with a number of projects for the\nNASA and CONAE. Based on his accomplishments a special feature will focus\non space suit design, development and production—ILC Dover has agreed to\nbring some of the people who make the actual suits. I have already outlined\nsome of his involvement in satellites. In addition to that, CONAE is\nsending a large model of the SAC-D satellite and I am hopeful to have some\nthe Aquarius team involved as well.\n", "attachments": [] }
