The new \nplanned launch date\nfor UKube-1 is June 28, 2014 at 15:58:28 UT with separation +9253 s \nGreenwich inertial\n(-1859.49, -3817.49, -5581.72) km (912.1, 6027.9, -4426.4) m.s-1 (TBC).\n\nUKube-1 carries a set of AMSAT-UK FUNcube boards (FUNcube-2) providing a \n435/145 MHz\nlinear transponder and educational telemetry beacon.\n\nDescription of UKube-1 from Clyde Space:\n\nUKube-1 is a 3U CubeSat has been designed and manufactured by Clyde \nSpace at their high-tech\nfacility on the West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow. This CubeSat \nis one of the most\nadvanced of its kind, the complexity of the spacecraft highlighted by \nthe nature of the 6\nindependent, advanced payloads being flown by the mission. The UKube-1 \nmission is the pilot for\na collaborative, national CubeSat programme bringing together UK \nindustry and academia to fly\neducational packages, test new technologies and carry out new space \nresearch quickly and\nefficiently.\n\nPayloads on UKube-1 include: the first GPS device aimed at measuring \nplasmaspheric space\nweather; a camera that will take images of the Earth, and test the \neffect of radiation on space\nhardware, using a new generation of imaging sensor; an experiment to \ndemonstrate the\nfeasibility of using cosmic radiation to improve the security of \ncommunications satellites and\nto flight test lower cost electronic systems; an advanced mission \ninterface computer to enable\nserious number crunching on tiny spacecraft; a high rate S-Band \ntransmitter and patch antenna;\nan outreach payload that allows school children to interact with the \nspacecraft.\n\nUKube-1 communications subsystem:\n Telemetry downlink 145.840 MHz\n FUNcube subsystem beacon 145.915 MHz\n 400 mW inverting linear transponder for SSB and CW\n - 435.080 -435.060 MHz Uplink\n - 145.930 -145.950 MHz Downlink\n 2401.0 MHz S Band Downlink\n 437.425-437.525 MHz UKSEDS myPocketQub Downlink\n\nOther satellites on the Soyuz-2-1b Fregat-M launch are: Meteor-M 2, \nSkySat 2, TechDemoSat 1 (TDS 1),\nAISSat 2, Baumanets 2, Relek, DX 1, Venta 1, UKube 1.\n\n[ANS thanks AMSAT-UK for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nDayton Satellite Demonstrations Videos\n\n\nAfter a very successful set of demonstrations at the Dayton Hamvention,\nseveral videos have been posted to YouTube by some of the operators.\nWe've gathered some of them together with links from the AMSAT\nwebsite for your viewing pleasure.\nhttp://www.amsat.org/?p=2741\n\n[ANS thanks Drew, KO4MA, for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n2015 NASA Aeronautics Scholarships\n\nApplications are now being accepted for 2015 NASA Aeronautics\nScholarships.
