Still enough award can be\nissued.\nAdditionally, a souvenir, a sticky screen cleaner, will be given with this\naward.\nThe design motif is the small antenna of ITF-2.\nDesign of the cleaner:\nhttps://twitter.com/yui_tsukuba/status/841096655046758400\n\nSWL cards:\nFive designs are prepared. The stations which report more than five times\ncan receive all designs.\nAlso, the specially designed card will be presented to the stations which\nreceived a signal from the small antenna,\nbecause the reports are valuable to demonstrate the antenna in space. So\nfar, two stations succeeded in the reception.\nDesigns of SWL cards:\nhttps://twitter.com/yui_tsukuba/status/846219342190555136\n\nFurther special events are planned for the promotion of receptions by more\nstations.\n\nThere were some reception reports by very simple equipment,\nfor example, Dipole or 5/8 wave length whip with USB tuner dongle (RTL2832).\n\nReception reports can be submitted at:\nhttps://operationitf-2.blogspot.jp/p/blog-page_58.html\n\nOperation information of ITF-2:\nhttp://operationitf-2.blogspot.jp/\n\n[ ANS thanks Atsushi, JI1OEH, for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nTAPR Announces SDR Presentations at Hamvention\n\nTAPR Announces SDR Presentations at the Dayton Hamvention by Carl Laufer who\nis an electronics, software & radio enthusiast from New Zealand and operates\nthe RTL-SDR.com blog specializing in news, projects & products related to\nultra low cost software defined radio & the RTL-SDR dongle.\n\nTAPR Digital Forum\n- Introduction to RTL-SDR: Ultra cheap software defined radio\nDigital Modes Now and in the Future Forum\n- Introduction to low cost HF monitoring with RTL-SDR\n\nAMSAT/TAPR Joint Banquet\n- The world of low cost software defined radio\n\nhttp://www.tapr.org/dayton.html\n\n[ANS thanks TAPR for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nCalifornia Students to Speak to NASA Astronauts on ISS\n\nStudents from Betsy Ross Elementary School in Anaheim, California, will\nspeak with NASA astronauts living and working aboard the International Space\nStation at 11:40 a.m. EDT Monday, April 3. The 20-minute, Earth-to-space\ncall will air live on NASA Television and the agency's website. (n.b. - this\nis not an ARISS contact via amateur radio)\n\nExpedition 50 Commander Shane Kimbrough and Flight Engineer Peggy Whitson,\nboth of NASA, will answer questions from students in several grades.\nStudents at Betsy Ross Elementary School have been hard at work exploring\nthe space program, NASA and the space station leading up to the downlink.\nThey have conducted research through virtual field trips while also\ndesigning realistic models of the space station. With each engaging\nactivity, the students' knowledge of NASA and the space program has been\ngreatly enhanced.\n\nKimbrough launched to the space station Oct. 19, 2016, and will return April\n10. Whitson launched to the space station Nov. 17, 2016, and is scheduled to\nreturn to Earth later this spring.\n\nMedia interested in covering the event should contact Keith Sterling,\ndirector of communications & public information, Anaheim Elementary School\nDistrict, at 714-600-0952 or [email protected]. Ross\nElementary is at 535 S. Walnut Street in Anaheim.\n\nLinking students directly to astronauts aboard the space station provides\nunique, authentic experiences designed to enhance student learning,\nperformance and interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics\n(STEM). This in-flight education downlink is an integral component of NASA\nEducation's STEM on Station activity, which provides a variety of space\nstation resources and opportunities to students and educators.\n\nGet NASA TV streaming video, schedules and downlink information at:\nhttp://www.nasa.gov/nasatv\n\nLearn about videos and lesson plans highlighting research on the\nInternational Space Station at: http://www.nasa.gov/stemonstation\n\n[ANS thanks NASA for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nNASA Releases Searchable Image, Video, Audio Library\n\nNASA officially has launched a new resource to help the public\nsearch and download out-of-this-world images, videos and audio\nfiles by keyword and metadata searches from NASA.gov. The NASA\nImage and Video Library website consolidates imagery spread\nacross more than 60 collections into one searchable location.\n\nhttps://images.nasa.gov\n\nNASA Image and Video Library allows users to search, discover\nand download a treasure trove of more than 140,000 NASA images,\nvideos and audio files from across the agency’s many missions\nin aeronautics, astrophysics, Earth science, human spaceflight,\nand more. Users now can embed content in their own sites and\nchoose from multiple resolutions to download. The website also\ndisplays the metadata associated with images.\n\nUsers can browse the agency’s most recently uploaded files, as\nwell as discover historic and the most popularly searched images,\naudio files and videos. Other features include:\n+ Automatically scales the interface for mobile phones and tablets\n+ Displays the EXIF/camera data that includes exposure, lens used,\n and other information, when available from the original image\n+ Allows for easy public access to high resolution files\n+ All video includes a downloadable caption file\n\nNASA Image and Video Library’s Application Programmers Interface\n(API) allows automation of imagery uploads for NASA, and gives\nmembers of the public the ability to embed content in their own\nsites and applications. This public site runs on NASA’s cloud\nnative “infrastructure-as-a-code” technology enabling on-demand\nuse in the cloud.\n\nThe library is not comprehensive, but rather provides the best\nof what NASA makes publicly available from a single point of\npresence on the web. Additionally, it is a living website, where\nnew and archival images, video and audio files continually will\nbe added.\n\nFor more information about NASA’s activities, visit:\nhttp://www.nasa.gov\n\n[ANS thank NASA for the above information]\n\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nFree Tours of Facilities at NASA's Glenn Research Center\n\nNASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, is offering tours that take\nvisitors behind the scenes and inside certain research facilities. Glenn\nscientists and engineers serve as guides. Tours and open house events will\nbe held each month through October 2017. Tours are free for groups and\nindividuals, but to guarantee admission, reservations are required. Visitor\nparking is also free.\n\nOn the days of the tours, a bus departs from Glenn's main gate every hour,\nbeginning at 10 a.m. The last tour departs at 1 p.m. Each tour lasts about\n45 minutes and is followed by a stop at Glenn's Gift Shop.
