They have a volume of about one quart and weigh no\n  more than 2.2 pounds. This will take over responsibility for space\nfrom the previous voluntary partnerships of Government Departments\nand research councils, the British National Space Centre.\n\nIt is reported that the new agency will bring these together \"under one\nroof\". To prepare for the contact, students\nstudied astronomy and were introduced to the Hubble Space Telescope.\nThey also learned about radio communications and some continued their s\ntudies and prepared for their amateur radio license exams.\n\nAn Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) contact has\nbeen scheduled for Walnut Creek Elementary School in Azle, Texas on \nMonday,\nMarch 29 at 15:08 UTC. The school\nrecently formed an amateur radio club and students have enjoyed\nlearning what radios can do.\n\n2.\tGreece Students Question Astronaut via ARISS Contact\n\nOn Tuesday, March 16, Timothy Creamer, KC5WKI connected with students\nattending 18 Dimotiko Scholeio Peristeriou in Athens, Greece via an\nAmateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) contact.\nStudents posed 19 questions to the on-orbit astronaut during the\nISS overhead pass as an audience of 700 students, teachers and\ncommunity members gathered to watch the event.  Several dignitaries\nwere present, including the General Secretary for Communications of\nthe Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication of Greece, the\nMayor of Peristeri (Athens) and the four vice mayors of Peristeri\nCity. The contact was integrated into the school’s science curriculum\ncovering subjects on astronomy and radio communications.\n\n3.\tAstronaut Training Status\n\nOn Monday, March 15, astronaut Paolo Nespoli, IZ0JPA participated\nin an Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS)\nsimulated contact with students  from Quintino Sella, Biella,\nItaly with audio available on IRLP (Internet Radio Linking Project).\nThis training session was a terrestrial-based amateur radio\ncontact using ARISS equivalent equipment.
