The first launch from \nSutherland\ncould happen in the early 2020s.\n\nBritish government officials said the development of a U.K. spaceport \nwould give\nthe nation’s industry broader access to the space market. British companies,\nsuch as SSTL in England and Clyde Space in Scotland, are already counted \namong\nthe global leaders in constructing small satellites.\n\nScottish Secretary David Mundell said the Sutherland launch site could \ncreate\nhundreds of new jobs.\n\nLockheed Martin is reportedly interested in launching a variant of \nRocket Lab’s\nElectron booster from the Sutherland site. The U.S. aerospace contractor \nis a\nstrategic investor in Rocket Lab, which already operates an orbital \nspaceport in\nNew Zealand, and is planning to develop a U.S. launch pad for the Electron\nvehicle, which has made two test flights to date.\n\nRocket Lab said in a statement late Monday that it is “evaluating launch\nopportunities” from the Sutherland spaceport in Scotland.\n\n“Electron is well-positioned to be the first orbital rocket launched \nfrom U.K.\nsoil,” said Peter Beck, Rocket Lab’s founder and CEO. “We’re excited to \nreview\nthe opportunity to develop a launch service to support the U.K. space \nindustry’s\ngrowth.\n\n“Every aspect of Rocket Lab’s launch model is designed to offer rapid,\nrepeatable and precise delivery to orbit for small satellites,” Beck \nsaid in a\nstatement. “The development of launch sites around the globe that can \nsupport\nElectron launches is crucial to delivering unprecedented access to orbit.”\n\n[ANS thanks SpaceFlightNow for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nChanges to AMSAT-NA TLE Distribution for 7-18-2018\n\nThe nine cubesats (JAXA) that were deployed on April 13,2018 from\nthe ISS have been added this week as follows:\nObject NU - NORAD CAT ID 43546\nObject NV - NORAD CAT ID 43547\nObject NW - NORAD CAT ID 43548\nObject NX - NORAD CAT ID 43549\nObject NY - NORAD CAT ID 43550\nObject NZ - NORAD CAT ID 43551\nObject PA - NORAD CAT ID 43552\nObject PB - NORAD CAT ID 43553\nObject PC - NORAD CAT ID 43554\n\nThese objects are too close together to be positively identified.\nThe objects deployed are RainCube, Radix, CubeRRT, HaloSat,\nTEMPEST-D, EnduroSat AD, EQUISat, MemSat and RadSat-g\n\nOnly the following operate in the Amateur bands:\nEduroSat AD 437.050MHz CW, GFSK 9k6\nEQUISat 435.550MHz CW, FSK 9k6\nMemSat 437.350MHz BPSK 9k6\n(per IARU Coordination status)\n\n[ANS thanks Nico Janssen (PA0DLO), IARU and AMSAT-UK for the above info}\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nUpcoming ARISS Contact Schedule as of 2018-07-19\n\n\nShinoda Elementary School, Izumi City, Japan, direct via 8N3SD\nThe ISS callsign is presently scheduled to be NA1SS\nThe scheduled astronaut is Ricky Arnold KE5DAU\nContact is a go for: Mon 2018-07-23 09:47:14 UTC 43 deg\n\nISS R&D Conference-San Francisco, CA, (CASIS#2), participating school Quest\nInstitute for Quality Education, San Jose, CA, telebridge via VK5ZAI\nThe ISS callsign is presently scheduled to be NA1SS\nThe scheduled astronaut is Serena Aunon-Chancellor KG5TMT\nContact is a go for: Thu 2018-07-26 20:22:10 UTC 48 deg\n\nARISS is always glad to receive listener reports for the above \ncontacts.  ARISS\nthanks everyone in advance for their assistance.  Feel free to send your \nreports\nto aj9n at amsat.org or aj9n at aol.com.\n\nListen for the ISS on the downlink of 145.80 MHz.\n\n[ANS thanks Charlie, AJ9N, for the above information]\n\n\n---------------------------------------------------------------------\n\n\nFaculty Positions Opening This Summer at the Hawaii Space Flight Lab\n\nThere are two new tenure track faculty positions opening this summer to\nwork with the Hawaii Space Flight Lab on Small Satellite research.
