The Wireless Institute of\nAustralia is assisting the project with IARU frequency and other\ncoordination.\n\n A member of the university engineering faculty class of 1968 and\nleading the student team that built Australis was Dr Owen Mace, who\nhas written a definitive book. Virginia University, Lane Dept.of\nComputer Science & EE, Morgantown, WV should be audible across\nEastern US.\n\nAn International Space Station school contact has been planned with\nparticipants at West Virginia University, Lane Dept.of Computer\nScience & Electrical Engineering, Morgantown, WV on 04 Sept. The\nevent is scheduled to begin at approximately 15:50 UTC. The duration\nof the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The contact\nwill be direct between NA1SS and W8CUL. The contact should be audible\nover the state of West Virginia, USA and adjacent areas. Interested\nparties are invited to listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The\ncontact is expected to be conducted in English.\n\nThe Amateur Radio Club at WVU has existed since 1912, making it one\nof the oldest student organization at WVU. They provide students a\ntestbed to conduct various experiments such as satellite and digital\ncommunications, radio astronomy and drone development. They are\nhoused within the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical\nEngineering, which provides educational programs at the bachelor's,\nmaster's, and doctoral levels in computer science, electrical\nengineering, computer engineering, and biometric systems. WVU is a\nland grant university and is the largest educational institution in\nthe state. Located in Morgantown, WV, with branch campuses spread\nthroughout the state, WVU is extremely involved in all state affairs.\nAs of 2015, slightly under 30,000 students were enrolled in graduate\nand undergraduate programs, a population comprised nearly equally\n(49%/51%) of in-state and out-of-state students, respectively.\nPresent at our contact will be students from elementary and middle\nschools from throughout the surrounding area.\n\nParticipants will ask as many of the following questions as time\nallows:\n\n1.
