At the present time Rick Hambly, W2GPS is acting VP\nEngineering. In that role he will be the team leader of all active teams\nand he will be the arbiter of the guidance provided to engineering by\nthe Board.\n\nRick wants to thank Bob McGwier N4HY for his service as VP Engineering.\nHe single handedly revitalized the department and brought on many new\nhigh quality volunteers to work on AMSAT new vision. He has also been\nthe genesis of new concepts like the use of software defined radio\nconcepts as the basis for our new high performance linear transponder\ndesign (SDX) and for the implementation of a better HELAPS transmitter\ndesign using modern digital techniques to control its linearity.\nFortunately Bob is staying actively involved in AMSAT and in our\nengineering efforts. He will be a key asset as we continue our march\ntoward achieving AMSAT Mission and Vision.\n\nRick has also created an advisory committee to work on a new Engineering\norganization proposal. It is expected that this group will act quickly\nto provide an operational proposal for the next VP of Engineering to use\nin moving the engineering group toward meeting the goals of that group\nset a number of years ago.\n\n\n[ANS thanks Gould, WA4SXM for the above information]\n\n/EX\n\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-202.03\nExecutive Board Meeting\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 202.03\n From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nJuly 20, 2008\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-202.03\n\nAn AMSAT executive meeting is planned for board members and senior\nofficers in mid August to discuss the current status and future\ndirection of AMSAT.
