Kid's Day is\nintended to encourage young people (licensed or not) to enjoy Amateur\nRadio. It can give young people on-the-air experience so they might\ndevelop an interest in pursuing a license in the future. It is intended\nto give hams a chance to share their station with children. During\nKid's Day operators are requested to minimize routine contacts and allow\nKid's Day stations to have a successful satellite contact.\n\nFollowing Kid's Day AO-51's mode will change on June 17 to dual L/U and\nV/U repeater mode for Field Day. This will give stations the week\nbefore Field Day to check out their stations.\n\nJune 1 - June 15\n\nFM Repeater, V/U\nUplink: 145.920 MHz FM, NO PL Tone\nDownlink: 435.300 MHz FM\n9k6 Digital, V/U, Telemetry Only\nDownlink: 435.150 Mhz FM, 9k6 Telemetry\n\nJune 16\nARRL Kid's Day\n(QSOs by or with Kid's Day stations ONLY please)\n\nFM Repeater, V/U\nUplink: 145.880 MHz FM, NO PL Tone\nDownlink: 435.300 MHz FM\n\nJune 17 - June 25\nAMSAT/ARRL Field Day (June 23-24)\n\nFM Repeater, V/U\nUplink: 145.920 MHz FM, NO PL Tone\nDownlink: 435.300 MHz FM\n\nFM Repeater, L/U\nUplink: 1268.700 MHz FM, NO PL Tone\nDownlink: 435.150 MHz FM\n\n[ANS thanks Drew, KO4MA, for the above information]\n\n/EX\n\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-161.02\nEagle 70cm Receiver Testing Resumes\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 161.02\n>From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nJune 10, 2007\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-161.02\n\nAfter a short break while the 70cm receiver travelled to Dayton, Juan,\nWA6HTP, has resumed testing of the first prototype of Eagle's 70cm\nreceiver. Anderson\nwill join Expedition 15 Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin, RN3FI, and Flight\nEngineer Dr Oleg Kotov. Suni will be returning to Earth aboard the\nAtlantis after a six month stay on the ISS begining last December. \n\nAtlantis Commander Rick Sturckow and his six crewmates will spend 11\ndays in space and take part in three spacewalks. Belgian School Contact, a Success\n\nStudents attending EFLS Sainte-Marie SUARLEE in Suarlee, Namur, Belgium\nparticipated in an Amateur Radio on the International Space Station\n(ARISS) contact on Tuesday, May 29 via the telebridge station W6SRJ in\nCalifornia. Thirteen children were able to ask astronaut Sunita\nWilliams, KD5PLB, one question each as an audience of 150 students,\nteachers and parents looked on. Students came from three area schools to\ntake part in the event. Media coverage included newspapers and three\ntelevision stations, both local and national. The audio of this contact\nwas fed into the EchoLink AMSAT (101 377) and JK1ZRW (277 208) servers,\nand received 15 connections from 7 countries, including 3 repeater\nnodes. It was also fed into the IRLP Discovery Reflector 9010. \n\n\n2. 300th Successful ARISS Contact with NASA Teachers Workshop\n\nOn Thursday, May 31, Sunita Williams, KD5PLB, answered 9 questions posed\nto her by instructors attending the NASA Johnson Space Center (Gilruth)\nTeacher to Teacher Workshop during an Amateur Radio on the International\nSpace Station (ARISS) contact. Telebridge station WH6PN in Hawaii\nassisted in the event as approximately 300 K-12 teachers witnessed the\nevent. \n\nPrior to the contact, an ARISS member gave a talk to the crowd and\nexplained how an ARISS event gets students interested in math, science,\nhistory, geography, and language. Statistics were given on the number of\nstudents reached each year, contacts performed per year, and how many\nmore students could participate via the internet and through general\ncontacts. Bill McArthur, KC5ACR, and his activity while on board the ISS\nwas mentioned as was the excitement created from the SuitSat-1 project.\nTeachers were also given information on the application process. \n\nThe audio from this event was fed into the EchoLink AMSAT (101 377) and\nJK1ZRW (277 208) servers. It received 17 connections, including 4\nrepeaters, from the U.S., England, Canada and Australia. It was also fed\ninto the IRLP Discovery Reflector 9010 which received five connections\nfrom the USA and England.\n\nThis event marked the 300th ARISS contact.\n\n\n3. ARISS Presentation at Huntsville Hamfest \n\nA NASA engineer and amateur radio operator plans to give a presentation\non the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) program\nat the Huntsville Hamfest in Huntsville, Alabama, which is held annually\nduring the third full weekend in August. This year the event, to be held\non August 18 – 19, will also host the American Radio Relay League\nNational Convention. For more information, see: http://www.hamfest.org/\n\n[ANS thanks Carol, KB3LKI, for the above information]\n\n/EX\n\n\nIn addition to regular membership, AMSAT offers membership in the\nPresident's Club.
