Clive says,\n\"Unless there is an unexpected change of status (such as occured with\nOSCAR-7), I'm expecting this to be my last report.\"\n\nThis report covers the period from 17 March to 21 April 2008. During\nthis period the satellite has not been heard and no reports of\nreception have been received.\n\nTransmissions were expected to resume on 24 March, after the beacon\nswitched-off on 14 March. However, permanent eclipses started a few\ndays beforehand, which probably caused the transmission period to be\nterminated prematurely. It is now unlikely that the satellite will\nsupport any sustained period of operation, and will only transmit\nfor a short time, possibly less than a single orbit, every 21 days.\n\nIn the years ahead, it is possible that you may hear OSCAR-11, by\naccident, when tuning around the frequency. If you are able to record\nthe satellite on audio tape or as a WAV file (not MP3), please do so,\nas it is unlikely that it will be heard on the next pass!\n\nPlease send reception reports to [email protected] (replace xxxxx by\ng3cwv) or post to amsat-bb. If you have a file, please let Clive\nknow what you have, before sending it!\n\nIf you need to hear what the satellite sounds like, please visit\nhis website at http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/clivew/ The satellite\ntransmits on 145.826 MHz.\n\nClive concludes, \"I am indebted to all those who sent reception reports\nduring the last 12 years. Initially there was much interest in hearing\nthe mode-S beacon, which was very weak. Recently, interest has changed\nto hearing when the two metre beacon switched on/off. Special thanks\nmust go to Jeff KB2M who recorded telemetry during my holidays, and\nPeter ZL3TC, who has monitored the beacon daily, during recent months.\nMany thanks to everyone.\"\n\nOSCAR-11 was the second satellite from the University of Surrey,\nhttp://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/SSC. It was designed, built and launched,\nwithin a time scale of six months, by a team headed by Martin Sweeting\nG3YJO. Amateur radio groups working at various locations in the world,\nAlso contributed to the project. It used commercially available 'off\nthe shelf' components (COTS). Following the success of these satellites,\nin 1985 Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (http://www.sstl.co.uk) was\nformed, as a commercial venture. This grew into a major company which\nhas produced over 27 small satellite projects for a global market.\n\n[ANS thanks Clive G3CWV for the above information]\n\n\n/EX\n\n\nSB SAT @ AMSAT $ANS-118.06\nARISS UPDATE\n\nAMSAT News Service Bulletin 118.06\n From AMSAT HQ SILVER SPRING, MD.\nApril 27, 2008\nTo All RADIO AMATEURS\nBID: $ANS-118.06\n\nAmateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) Status Report\nApril 21, 2008\n\n1.\tUpcoming School Contacts\n\nArnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida has been\nscheduled for an Amateur Radio on the International Space Station\n(ARISS) contact on Monday, April 21 at 17:48 UTC via the telebridge\nstation W6SRJ in Santa Rosa, California.
