It took the rest of us time and effort already to get\nTeamspeak set up, and now it's all tried and tested. I really don't think\nit's necessarily fair for everyone to have to change just because of one\nindividual's opinion on it being open source.\n\nRemembering back to the issues we had getting aquainted originally when set\nup Teamspeak as a conferencing tool, I feel that changing now would actually\nbe a detriment to productivity.\n\nIf it works, why fix it?\n\nAgain, I must reiterate that it is not my intention to upset the apple cart,\nit's just that Teamspeak would seem to be the very least of our problems\nright now!\n\n73, Howard G6LVB\n\n\n-----Original Message-----\nFrom: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of\nMatt Ettus\nSent: 02 January 2008 18:29\nTo: Robert McGwier\nCc: 'AMSAT BoD'; 'EAGLE'; AMSAT Advisors; AMSAT Officers\nSubject: [eagle] Re: Proposed agenda for Jan. 8 TS meeting\n\nRobert McGwier wrote:\n> This is a proposed agenda for next week's meeting. The developers are quite open about the fact that they will \nNEVER open it up:\n\n http://forum.teamspeak.com/archive/index.php/t-372.html\n\n\nClearly it is too short of a time frame to switch for this meeting, but I\nwould really like to investigate some other option which is open. A very\nquick google search turned up the following:\n\n http://mumble.sourceforge.net/\n\nIt is open, has clients for Windows and Linux, and seems to have a lot of\nhappy users. As a bonus, it uses the Speex audio codec which we are\nconsidering for use in many AMSAT and other ham applications. This would\nmake tying the internet- and satellite- connected conversations together\neasier.\n\nIf some people would like to test this with me, let me know. At least one\nLinux user, on Windows user, and maybe a Mac person who knows how to compile\ncommon open source apps would be useful.\n\nMatt\n\n_______________________________________________\nVia the Eagle mailing list courtesy of AMSAT-NA [email protected]\nhttp://amsat.org/mailman/listinfo/eagle\n\n_______________________________________________\nVia the Eagle mailing list courtesy of AMSAT-NA\[email protected]\nhttp://amsat.org/mailman/listinfo/eagle\n\n\n", "attachments": [] }
