I presented a paper on this amplifier at\nthe IEEE International Microwave Symposium in Hawaii a\nfew weeks ago. Cree obtained permission from the IEEE\nand made available the paper on their web site:\n\nhttp://www.cree.com/products/wireless_docs.htm\n\nFor the time being, it is the first paper in the list.\nI invite you to take a look at the paper for more\ndetails on the amplifier.\n\nSince this amplifier needs +27 dBm of drive for an\noutput of +43 dBm, I requested the computer model and\na couple of sample devices from Cree to design a\ndriver amplifier. Al, K2UYH, helped to obtain the\nsamples, which are here in my house.\n\nThe final amplifier efficiency was measured at around\n86 to 88%, and this number holds quite well at almost\nany drain voltage or output power. This is exactly\nwhat is needed for a good envelope elimination and\nrestoration linear amplifier. Also, the RF output\nvoltage varies linearly with the drain voltage.\n\nI am very busy right now with a new job, new house,\nnew state (NC), and my wife is expecting a baby boy\nfor the first days of December. However, I hope to\nspend some time working on the driver to complete the\n2 meter amplifier chain.\n\n73, Marc N2UO\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n____________________________________________________________________________________\nPinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell. \nhttp://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/\n", "attachments": [] }
