I enlarged the\nholes using my milling machine, a few thousandths of an inch at a time. But\naside from the altered state of this base plate I think there are other\nissues to address. It may come to pass that two compartments are required\nto deal with the radiated EMI from the CAN-Do module. I think it will be\nvery hard to partition this enclosure into two RF-tight compartments using\nsheet metal. I also think the AVX guide specifying no more than 0.0038\"\nflex in any one-inch segment of the PCB might be hard to meet with this\nenclosure. AVX is one of the largest manufacturers of ceramic chip\ncapacitors in the world so I believe they know what they are talking about.\nIf anyone disagrees and wants to put out another argument for maximum SMT\nPCB flex I'd be interested to see it.\n\n \n\nAnyway my opinions are just that. Once the dust settles and there is an EMI\nrequirement and a PCB flex requirement, a determination can be made to see\nif the existing enclosure meets the requirements. If it does then there is\nno need to change it. That removes all the subjective opinions out of the\ndecision loop. You hold everything up to the peer-reviewed requirements,\nrun some peer-reviewed tests, and either it passes of it fails. The same\ngoes for the CAN-Do module and the Receiver. At least that's the way I'm\nused to doing things at work.\n\n \n\n73,\n\n \n\nJuan\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n _____ \n\nFrom: Dick Jansson-rr [mailto:[email protected]] \nSent: Tuesday, July 17, 2007 11:36 AM\nTo: 'Juan Rivera'; 'Chuck Green'\nCc: 'David Smith'; 'Dave Black ((Work))'; 'Dave Black ((Home))'; 'Louis\nMcFadin'; 'AMSAT Eagle'; 'Samsonoff@Mac. It is my very greatly considered opinion\nthat the baseplate that you have has been modified (butchered) to allow for\nthe soldering of the CAN 40pin connector and this has created not only\nreduced sections in this plate, but probably has also distorted the plate\nconsiderable. Such distortions in all likelihood have created a non-normal\nflexure condition in that particular plate. As such, your opinion of the\ndesign has been biased, and that is unfortunate. It seems to me that you\nshould try to acquire an E05 21 base plate that is in \"stock\" condition. I\ndon't have any in hand here in Florida, or I would have sent it to you some\ntime ago. These parts, unfortunately are in a limited supply at this time.\n\n \n\n'73,\n\nDick Jansson, KD1K\n\[email protected] \n\[email protected] \n\n \n\n \n\n\n\n", "attachments": [ { "email": "https://mailman.amsat.org/hyperkitty/api/list/[email protected]/email/OJDVM7AJTM6ONBGXTFRTOGPEFT77CDLT/", "counter": 2, "name": "attachment.html", "content_type": "text/html", "encoding": "us-ascii", "size": 9471, "download": "https://mailman.amsat.org/hyperkitty/list/[email protected]/message/OJDVM7AJTM6ONBGXTFRTOGPEFT77CDLT/attachment/2/attachment.html" } ] }
