    "content": "Bummer\n\nIn most cases a suffix indicates a minor difference.\n\nGetting more difficult to deal with older components and variations.\nTry getting a 2N3177, used in almost every linear power supply since the\n70s.\nNo longer manufactured and stocks are limited with the expected increase in\nprice.\nI have several Astron power supplies donated to our local club that need\nrefreshing.\nAt the moment the best source appears to be Astron, who apparently bought a\nlarge stock.\n\nBurns, would Eric or Zach have the MAX1556A inventory?\n\nJim\nWA4CWI\n\n\nAfter looking into this more I see the MAX1556A was specified in the\nschematic and BOM. The MAX1556 was placed on the board. These two parts work\ndifferently WRT to the programming pins D1, D2.\nIf the MAX1556A had been used we would have been fine.\n\nI see no stock not his part at Mouser or Digikey or Newark, or anyone in the\nUS so far. I do see inventory in ASIA. If they will sell a small quantity of\nsay 16 we should be able to swap out the parts. Shipping cost will be $40 to\n$60.\n\nThis part is now Obsolete at Analog Devices.\n\nI think these part was used on earlier AMSAT boards. I would like to know if\nthere is any inventory available before ordering the parts from Asia?
