(Venice, LA, USA) Wyatt Dirks, AC0RA, and Clayton Coleman, W5PFG’s plan
to activate maidenhead gridsquare EL58hx on Memorial Day weekend, 2018,
is rescheduled due to unsafe weather conditions. The National Weather
Service’s National Hurricane Center confirms 70% potential for a
tropical depression to form in the next five days with potential to move
into the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Rainfall predicted to hit the
Louisiana coast combined with additional moisture from the potential
depression would inhibit safe access to the operating location. The new
dates for the expedition are June 7-9, 2018.
This may not seem like a satellite question, but it is. When using the
paddle input for CW on a TS-2000 does the PTT light for the VFO you are
using turn red as though you had pressed the mike key? Even on full
break-in (when I might expect it to blink in time with the code)?
It's satellite related because while I don't do CW, I built a little box to
send dit-dit-dit to get tuned in on a linear satellite, and while I get the
TS-2000's side tone in the earphone, I don't see the red light at all, and
have not really found it on another radio.
Thanks and 73,
There is a Windows version of GNURadio available for 64-bit machines. I
am using ver. 22.214.171.124 on my Windows 7 laptop. I use it together with a
program called "Amigos" for live decoding of pictures from the Russian
Meteor WX satellite. It works great. Here is the link for the download.
Just spotted this in the DXNL 2094 - May 23, 2018 DX Newsletter. Cozumel

I want to replace the existing IC-7000 "rig setup file” as shown in setup > Radio setup > Icom > Model.
So a few questions:
1. Where is this file located? It is not in the Icom folder.
2. What does model “others” do?
3. I am using a 7100. Is it OK to use the 7000 model?
I do not want to do a restore with a data backup or reinstall if at all possible.
Any and all help appreciated.
Pat Stoddard asked me for the grid and so I will try what for me is an 8° Fox 92 pass at 309Z, my local 2309 Eastern Tuesday evening. Would like to see western and central US stations Who need this grid to call.
