CAS-$A Intermittent

Just got off CAS-4A at 2211 Z on 2021-12-16 and noticed that the satellite was intermittent . seemed be transmitting normal for 10-15 seconds and then cut out for 10-15 seconds. However when normal, it had a very good downlink signal ! Hope this is a temporary thing which will correct itself !

ARISS anticipates that the contact would be held between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022. Crew scheduling and ISS orbits will determine the exact contact dates. To maximize these radio contact opportunities, ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed education plan. The deadline to submit a proposal was November 24th, 2021 and has now closed. Thanks to all the responded to my last email. Here is what I did. I removed the polarization switch and connected a VNA to the antenna . It said the impedance is 32 J17 ohms VSWR 1.84:1 center around 145MHZ Questions 1. Does this measurement look right? 2. Should I try to match it to 50 ohms 3. Planning a grid expedition to DM93 on Friday since I know quite a few satellite ops who need that grid. Plan to be there for the following passes: 1906Z CAS-4B rather low elevation pass, though 1948 SO50 2016 CAS-4A 2036 PO-101 2045 CAS-4B 2056 ISS 2128 SO50 2156 CAS-4A 2212 PO-101 rather low elevation pass but will try 2226 CAS-4B 2311 RS44 Should be in DM94 for the following passes 1729 TO-108 1813 JO97 2337 CAS-4A Hope to see some of you on this Friday! 73 John AF5CC
