You will not need a mast-mounted pre-amp because 1.2 GHz can legally be used only as a satellite UPlink. There is nothing to receive there.
AO-92 and ESEO have 1.2 GHz uplinks, for sure. There may be others, as well -- I'm not up to speed on that right now. -- Mark D.
