Now that you mention it Hans, I don't recall hearing the beacon. But I did hear my own downlink. I haven't been baqck on the air for a few weeks, the TLE's need to be updated and I should give a listen to AO7.
A note on the downlink when I used it, as I recollect the downlink frequency seemed a little unstable. On 70cm I'm only running 10W maximum into 75 feet of feedline and a RH helix antenna and no elevation rotator. On 2M again its 10W max and the antenna is an 8 element quad.

Are the beacons still working? I've tried to get them many times, but not a trace. Might be my modest setup, though.

Hi Whats the current operational status of AO-7?
I ask because I'm returning to amateur radio after a lapse of about *cough*30 plus years! AO-7 is like sn old friend i remember and wkuld love to try working sometime soon for old times sake.
I understand its only operational when not eclipsed, but wondering about prefered mode/power etc and frankly does anyone else still use the old dear anymore?
Many thanks in advance Meeko M0FVD _______________________________________________ Sent via AMSAT-BB@amsat.org.
