I cannot attest to the safety of the site, but TAPR is, of course, a reputable organization. I don't remember where I downloaded DireWolf from. It was a while ago.
Hopefully, other AMSAT folks can step up and confirm this site or offer an alternative.

I use DireWolf and UISS for packet via ISS. I've never tried anything else, so I can't say if it's better or not, but it works fine for me.
