This radio can receive on one band while transmitting on another, so I was able to hear myself come back down the bird without any trouble.

With the mobile setup, the satellites have to be passing over head in order to work them. The pass is usually about 10 minutes from start to finish. If the bird is passing west or east of me, I can kind of hear it and kind of make contact but the signal is far to unstable using a vertical only antenna.

I hope one of these weekends when I do not have much going on, try and work the satellites with my portable 3 element VHF/5 element beam.
