I have tried to provide a little leniency in the discussion on the
AMSAT-BB, but there are certain individuals who seem to think this is
their personal soapbox.
There are currently 2,069 subscribed users to the AMSAT-BB, a far cry
from the number signed up two years ago. So, where have they all
gone? They came, like most, to celebrate the art of amateur radio
satellites. Instead, they were faced with a deluge of hateful
attacks.
The AMSAT-BB is not a free-fire zone, where you can hurl insults to
make yourself feel better. This is a discussion forum with a
specific purpose.
The Acceptable Use Policy for the AMSAT Public Mailing Lists (AUP)
(amsat.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/AMSAT_AUP_061819.pdf)
clearly defines what is and what is not acceptable content. If you
forgot, then do us all a favor and reread the policy and follow it.
Your participation on this mailing list is a privilege, not a right.
Please remember this.
- Offer something positive that benefits the community.
- Be considerate of others
- Remember there are people of all ages/experience on this forum
I will be removing those subscribers who fail to adhere to the policy,
to include those discussions attacking AMSAT.
To the other 2,060ish subscribers, I deeply apologize that you have
had to endure this for this long and promise to restore the AMSAT-BB
to a more focused and constructive discussion on satellite operations.
Sincerely,
Robert Bankston, KE4AL
President
Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT)
