Peter, I have been told the same thing about HRD, however nobody has ever given me precise explanations on what the 'odd quirks' are. I have used It for controlling my radios Doppler correction in the past and it's rock solid. It's just a predefined formula that runs. The same formula that is used by all Doppler tracking programs. The only drawback that I ran into was having no real way to adjust the Doppler tuning on the fly like you can with SatPC32. It has a tic-box to enable manual tuning during Doppler correction but it doesn't work. Without this feature it is literally impossible to use on the linear birds. Getting this fixed would be a giant leap forward in making it a viable satellite application.

The issue isn't AOS times matching its todo with doppler correction.
Previously (Not aware it's been fixed) it doesn't allow for proper calibration between radio and the software so doppler is never correct so you drift in an odd way.
HRD has always tracked a satellite in the sense of rotator pointing beyond that, however, it's got/had some really odd quirks.
Before I gave up I used it on FM satellites but for automated control when using linear it was just unusable.
If there's been some sudden correction recently Mike then do let us know.
(Sorry can't help offer experience to dev, C++,MFC isn't my strong point more a slap together simple C# apps to interact with apps todo what I want)

Hmmm... is everyone else just on an old version or something?

I run HRD Sat, SatPC32 and MacDoppler on my computer and all the AOS times match. I am running the latest release from September 2017 of HRD Sat.

As someone said previously, it's probably a math problem that got buggered up somewhere along the way.
We will get this fixed.

I have noticed mention about issues with HRD Sat tracking. No "specific"
problems were mentioned I have used HRD for may years, and know it pretty well. After the last few "updates", an upcoming sat pass in HRD, the pass over my QTH, is about 5 - 10 minutes later. I, also run SatPC32 at the same time, along with pass predictions from other Web sites. All of the predictions agree, except for HRD, reporting the pass later. I have missed many passes using HRD. When I switched to SatPC32, I started hearing passes. My "keps" are current, QTH is correct, time is correct, and all the "personal" information is correct in the HRD Logbook. I am "totally" stumped.
