[amsat-bb] Yaesu FT-817ND as a satellite 9600 receiver

Has anyone ever tried a Yeasu FT-817ND as a satellite 9600 baud receiver? For example, taking the "9600" audio from the 817 and feeding it to a TNC or a soundcard modem? If so, how did it perform?
