The FT736R came with 2m and 70cm as standard, so it is good to go for Mode B and Mode J satellites. The FT726 had 2m as standard, it had 2 different UHF modules, one for 430-440MHZ (for the satellite and weak signal part) and a 440-450MHZ for the US FM portion of the band. Also, it wouldn't do full duplex without a satellite board installed, which was an option.
Kenwood had the TS780 which was a dualband 2m/70cm SSB/CW/FM rig. I don't know if it supported full duplex or not, I kind of think it didn't.
For monoband SSB/CW rigs there are also:
2m: Icom 245 with SSB adaptor, Icom 260, Icom 202S, Kenwood TR9000, Kenwood TR9130, Kenwood TS700, Yaesu FT480, Yaesu FT221, Yaesu FT225, Yaesu FT290RI, and Santec LS202A-an all mode HT with thumbwheel frequency selection
70cm: Icom 402, Kenwood TR9500, Yaesu FT780, FT790R1
Yaesu had the FT767 which was an HF rig which you could add a 2m and/or UHF module to.

Go to rigpix.com and look for SSB capable radios...find more detail on originally available options a www.universal-radio.com even for the old stuff...it's out there.
Here's some ideas. Some are old, but if you know what to watch for, you can score a good deal.
Out of production but can be found to work Sats with.
Look in SatPC32 for models in the Radio Setup to see what's supported...if doing PC control...
Icom IC-910H Yaesu FT-847 Icom IC-820/821 Yaesu FT-736R (watch for the correct band modules) (maybe can be PC controlled via CAT) Icom-970H. You can put a 1.2 and 2.4ghz module in this one. Very rare. Yaesu FT-726R (watch for the correct band modules and the satellite module) There is even a 10/15m module for mode A or mode K etc...very rare... Kenwood TS-790
Mono Band Rigs: Kenwood TM-255 2 meter Kenwood TM-455 70cm Yaesu FT-290R2 2 meter There is a bolt on 25w amp for the back of this one Yaesu FT-790R2 70cm. There is a bolt on amp 25w for the back of this one Kenwood TR-751 2m 25 watt all mode Kenwood TR-851 70cm 25watt all mode Icom IC-211 2m all mode 10 watts.... I had one very inexpensive (old but works) Icom IC-451E 70cm all mode 10 watts Icom IC 251/271/275 2m base all mode Icom IC 451/471/475 70cm base all mode ...there's a tuning module to connect some of these 2m/70cm rigs together.

Has anyone assembled a reasonably modern (currently available) table of equipment suitable for sat work?
Dual-band, full-duplex - handhelds, mobiles, base equipment.
Thanks.
