with regard to the FT847:

it does great 9600 FM vhf/uhf. using the DataPort (mindin 6pin). I use it for Falconsat-3.

however, I have no joy for 9600 BPSK for SSB. which would require going thru

the I/O port (allows SSB signals), which does not allow the wider bandwith.

the I/O port works great for 1200bpsk on ssb, and of course PSK31.

if a petition gets going to ICON I would be interested.
