May I also throw in the IOio antenna? I built mine out of PVC pipe and copper tubing and had my first sat QSO on AO-7 with it. Cost was about $15 - $20 as well.

You can get into the world of much higher gain for under $20 ... Build yourself a tape measure beam! That scratchy signal you heard from ARISSat-1 would have been BOOMING into your TH-F6a!
