FYI - I haven't heard a newer projection for a launch date, however, AMSAT-DL has plans to fly it's ERMINAZ mission, two PocketQube payloads, in a 500km polar orbit "not earlier than August 2024".

https://amsat-dl.org/en/erminaz-iaru-frequency-coordination-is-completed/

In addition to various experiments, it will include a digipeater and store & forward function that will allow licensed radio amateurs to use ERMINAZ-1U/1V as a relay to communicate with other radio amateurs worldwide.

Hi Charles,

There are no operating satellites with this capability to my knowledge. FalconSat-3 was the most recent but has re-entered. MirSat-1 also had some of that capability but was short lived as it was deployed from the ISS.

The Amsat Pacsat program aims to recreate the capability with modern hardware. See here:
https://github.com/AMSAT-NA/PacSatDocs
And here:
https://github.com/AMSAT-NA/PacSatSW

The code runs on a TMS570.

I also have a Raspberry Pi implementation of the Pacsat Server but it has no flight heritage :). See here:
https://github.com/ac2cz/pi_pacsat

If you want to know more about this capability then I have a web page that links to the ground station software, it's source code and all of the original Pacsat documents:

Thank you for the Thybolt information, but again it handles less than
one line of a message and just delivers it to it's own ground station.
It does not hold a message for another bbs to retrieve it. We are looking
for a way to forward full packet personal mail and bulletins via satellite.
