Quick SS-1 (Surya Satellite 1) Report after a meeting with the SS-1 Satellite team an hour ago:
- SS-1 was deployed at 08.03 UTC on Jan 6, 2023
- Right on schedule, 30 minutes after deployment first packet was heard. This packet was digipeated via ISS as it is still close-by
- From the telemetry bits, both VHF and UHF antennas were properly released
- Battery voltage was observed at 3.83 volt
- At around 13.00 UTC SS-1 went quiet, the team concluded it went into "hibernation mode" due to low voltage
- This morning at around 00.30 UTC one observer in Bali received a direct (not digipeated) packet, so it came out of hibernation mode with high voltage as the radio power is high
- Consecutive packets were received direct by various APRS satgates
- At around 07.00 UTC telemetry shows a critical low battery voltage and SS-1 went into hibernation again
- As the SS-1 team concluded that the satellite is working as designed, 2 hours ago when SS-1 pass above Jakarta, the team uplink commands to reduce the beacon rate, to raise the battery voltage, and gather more data points on the power budget model.
