The most important thing about buying a used FT-847 is to make certain is has the bi-directional CAT CPU. The first ones produced did not, which makes them nearly useless with tracking software. Years ago Yaesu did updates free of charge, but there are a few around which have the original chip. It isn't something you can fix at home.
