Joe, Maybe I'm just a little slow because I haven't had any caffeine on this post holiday monday morning, but I don't seem to see your scraping script linked to anywhere. If you shoot me a link or attach the source I'll take a look. Predict.DB is a file that the predict software uses to display some additional information about the satellite you are tracking (its uplink/downlink/mode etc). There is a sample one provided with predict if you grab the predict source.

Josh,
Cool. Let's see what type of feedback we get on this.
I'm not familiar with the predict.db file. Where does it originate and what system uses it? Send me a sample copy and I should be able to hack this together reasonably quickly, once the RSS tags are well defined.
For the time being, you're welcome to browse through my scraping script. This is what I wrote to pull the status data off the amsat website and push it out to a txt file. It's fairly rough code but it works :-)

Kent, I think this is an excellent idea. Perhaps something to generate an ical file for sat modes on the birds that change modes often (think AO-51). I would also be interested in helping with the development of this system.
Joe, I would be very interested in a script that consumed this RSS feed and updated the predict.db file. Maybe even a patch to predict that made this a built in feature?
